The Clinical Academic Training Forum (CATF) was established in 2018 to unite key stakeholders involved in clinical academic training across the UK.

Its mission is to provide strategic coordination and support for clinical academic training pathways, ensuring they meet the needs of trainees and the wider healthcare community.

Membership includes representatives from public and charitable funders, the four nations of the UK and current trainees. While originally focused on academic medical and dental careers, CATF has expanded to include other healthcare professions, reflecting the growing diversity of clinical academia.

The forum is currently chaired by Professor Waljit Dhillo, Dean of the NIHR Academy.
